Buick teases 2013 Enclave ahead of debut in New York

The Enclave has been a big breadwinner in the Buick lineup for over five years, with annual sales that have hovered around 50,000 units, and this past year has seen its best numbers yet. Not bad for a crossover that can crest $50,000 with the right options checked, and even better for a vehicle that has seen virtually nothing in the way of engineering or design updates.

That changes for the 2013 model year, as Buick will finally give their range-topper some refreshed duds. The Enclave will be shown for the first time at the New York Auto Show on April 4, and we now have the first official sneak peak of the updated interior. There isn’t much to glean from the photo, except for the expected infotainment update and some cool-looking ambient lighting.

We’ll probably have to wait until New York for more pics of the Enclave, but for now you can click on the image above to see the pic in higher resolution. Hit the jump for a very short General Motors press release.
The redesigned 2013 Buick Enclave will debut at the New York Auto Show on April 4, 2012. A rendering of the new luxury crossover’s new cabin released today previews the changes to come, which include industry-exclusive safety technology and modern design updates. Full information will follow in the coming weeks.

Volvo not bringing new V40 to these United States

Filed under hatchback, luxury, Others, Volvo 29-02-2012

There are some cars we enjoy writing about more than others. Those tend to be the ones with the big horsepower numbers and seldom more than two doors, but the new Volvo V40 that was officially released today stands as an exception, because while it is hardly what you’d call exotic, it did pique our interest more than a workaday hatchback should. But we’ll have to try not to like it too much, because we just received confirmation that it is not, we’re sorry to report, coming to the United States.

In an email we received today from Geno Effler, head of public relations for Volvo Cars of North America, we were told that – and we quote – “The V40 is not coming to the United States.” Rats.

Redesigned 2013 Volkswagen CC priced from $30,250

Filed under luxury, Others, Volkswagen 28-02-2012

When is a Volkswagen not a Volkswagen? If by Volkswagen, you mean the “people’s car” as it was initially intended, then the answer is: When it starts costing thirty to forty grand. But even with new pricing in place, the Volkswagen CC is still a far cheaper proposition to other German “four-door coupes” like the Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class, Audi A5 Sportback and A7 and the new BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe.

Whereas the MSRP on the outgoing model started at $28,514, the freshly updated 2013 model starts at $30,250. That, of course, is just the starting price for the base model with the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder. Start piling on the options – especially big-ticket upgrades like the VR6 engine and 4Motion all-wheel drive – and you’re quickly looking at a price starting at $41,420 for the top-of-the-line Executive model. Fisker to launch production Karma Surf wagon at Paris salon in September

Although the split front grille may not be to everyone’s liking, by and large the overall shape of the Fisker Karma is what defines it as much as its hybrid propulsion system. The trouble is, packaging two powertrains into one lithe shape penned by the same designer behind the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and the BMW Z8 has left the Karma with little in the way of useable trunk space. That’s what prompted Fisker to showcase the Surf concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show last year. Read More »

Kia posts first images of KH concept on Facebook

Filed under Concept Cars, Kia, luxury 28-02-2012

A couple of weeks ago, we shared sketches of the KH concept sedan by Kia (also called the K9 in some circles), but if you’re friends with the South Korean automaker on Facebook, you got first access to images of their flagship sedan.

As we reported before, Soon-Nam Lee, the company’s overseas marketing director, says the car will go on sale in South Korea in the first half of this year and then in most major markets soon thereafter. It’s based on the same real-wheel-drive BH platform shared by the Hyundai Genesis and Equus, and should therefore have some 5.0-liter V8 horsepower to back up its big, bold, BMW-like looks.

Before it hits the streets, though, Kia needs your help. They’re asking their Facebook fans to put on their collective thinking caps and name the stately sedan. Suggestions so far include Kratos, Stylus, Zion, Luxor, Nirvana, Decima and Panther. But we’re pretty sure Autoblog readers can come up with way better names than that.

Renault blings out the Twingo with Mauboussin

Filed under hatchback, luxury, Others, Renault 27-02-2012

The Renault Twingo wouldn’t be one of the first vehicles that comes to mind when you think of luxury. In fact, just the opposite: it’s one of Europe’s most affordable little hatchbacks. But a new special edition aims to upset that particular apple cart through a collaboration with French jeweler Mauboussin.

Launched to coincide with Valentine’s Day, the Twingo Mauboussin edition is decked out in metallic brown paint with dark rose decals and gunmetal-finish alloys. The cabin’s swathed in cloth and leather with a unique shifter to keep the available 85-horsepower diesel or 75-horsepower gasoline engine in the sweet spot.

Available exclusively in France, Italy, Austria and Morocco, with prices starting at €13,500 – including tax, equivalent to about $18k). Follow the jump for the press release and scope out the high-res images in the gallery for more.

Jaguar reskins the cat with new XK Artisan edition

Filed under Convertibles, Coupes, Jaguar, luxury, Others 24-02-2012

Every car has its better and worse angles, but by and large we’d argue the Jaguar XK is one of the most beautiful cars on the road today. Almost artistic, we’d say, and Jaguar itself seems to agree with the release of the new Artisan special edition.

Launched (for the time being at least) in Jaguar’s home market, the Artisan SE is available in either coupe or convertible and in base XK or supercharged XKR trim. It’s distinguished by its polished 20-inch wheels and unique shades of black, white and silver, but what really sets it apart is its interior: Scraffito-style leather covers the seats, dash and doors, with a Poltrona Frau headliner, a Bowers & Wilkins sound system, stainless steel pedals and unique sill plates.
