Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Blanc Noir edition at large in Cali

Arquivado em Bugatti, Coupes, Others por admin em 11-01-2010

You didn’t really think it was over, did you? The Sang Bleu was supposed to be the last special edition Bugatti Veyron, but word (and pictures) on the street suggest otherwise. Exhibit Z: the Grand Sport Blanc Noir edition, which follows the trio of Dubai specials into the Veyron special sunset.

Apparently created for a high-end clothier, the Veyron Blanc Noir appears to be a one-off (like the Pegaso) rather than a limited-production run (like the Fbg par Hermes). Based on the targa-roofed Grand Sport, the Black Noir edition – spotted in California – is all done up, as the name suggests, in black and white: a matte white body with glossy black hood, wheels, spoiler, fuel filler cap and more. And of course, there’s the requisite nameplate on the lower front corner of the door. Check it out in the gallery below for all the angles.

Bugatti trademarks 16C Galibier shape, production decision coming soon?

Arquivado em Bugatti, Others por admin em 24-12-2009

The question of whether or not Volkswagen will decide to put the Bugatti 16C Galibier into production is still unanswered. While we’ve heard rumors that the German automaker was leaning towards the affirmative, the green light has yet to be lit.

Still, Bugatti is making sure all of its ducks are in a row… just in case. Evidence of such can be seen in a trademark filing with the World Intellectual Property Organization that seeks to keep other automakers from stealing the car’s design and shape. After all, it’s happened before.

With Veyron production scheduled to come to an end after the 2012 model year, Bugatti only has a little bit of time to decide if it’s moving forward on that supercar’s successor, and if so, whether or not the front-engine, four-door Galibier is the direction it needs to go. We should know soon enough.

Bugatti honors Dubai with three special editions Veyrons

As with any other business, in the automotive sphere, it’s mission critical to recognize on which side your bread is buttered – particularly in lean times like these. Bugatti may be losing money on each Veyron it builds, but that doesn’t mean that company strategists don’t know how to earn a crust. Need proof? This month’s Dubai Motor Show finds the supercar builder unveiling a trio of special edition models in one of its most important markets.

The Middle East triumvirate will consist of the Veyron Nocturne, which features “galvanized side windows” that add continuity to the polished aluminum body panel accents, and there are also polished wheels and a “black nanocoated magnesium dashboard” with a center console rendered in galvanized platinum. Just five examples will be built.

Bugatti will also show its Veyron “Sang d’Argent” and a topless Grand Sport “Soliel de Nuit” model for those that like a little sun and sand in their hair. The former of which employs a silver metallic finish and alloys nicked from the Grand Sport and the latter incorporates “country coded” colors that include a silver metallic lower and an impossibly deep upper blue finish and a Havanna interior with quilted seats.

If you’re interested, well, have your accountant’s accountant ring up Bugatti, and summon your garage keeper to ensure you’ve got some extra room available in the first quarter of 2010 for when you take delivery. Oh, and you’ll have to liberate anywhere from 1.45 million euro ($2.1M USD) to 1.65 million euro ($2.5M) from your chaise lounge cushions for the privilege. Not up for it? Well, you can at least check out our high-res images below and the official press release after the jump.

PRESS RELEASE:

Bugatti honours the importance of the Middle East market
with 2 unique cars and a special series of only 5 Veyrons for the Middle East market

Dubai, 15th December 2009 – Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. finishes its Centenary celebrations
with three tailor made cars, especially developed for its discerning clientele in the Middle East:
the Veyron “Sang d’Argent”, the Grand Sport “Soleil de Nuit” and the Veyron “Nocturne”,
limited to five cars only.

The “Nocturne” – a special Veyron five car edition exclusively for the Middle East Market

The Veyron “Nocturne” strikes with an extraordinary partition of surfaces never used so far,
giving the car a new dimension of lateral length. Bugatti is experimenting with galvanized side
windows continuing the line of the polished aluminium upper body parts to the rear of the car
and contrast vividly with the uni black of the side- and door-panels and the roof. Added to that is
the hood, also covered in polished aluminium which emphasizes this impression of elegant
length. Special polished custom rims at the exterior and a futuristic interior dominated by a black
nanocoated magnesium dashboard and a centre console in galvanized Platinum complete this
unique combination of individualized modern design.

This mini series has been especially developed for the Middle East Market honouring its
importance and its strong partners in the area - Al Habtoor Motors, UAE, Al Zayani Trading
Co., Kuwait, Al Ghassan Motors, Saudi Arabia and Dana Motors, Quatar.

“Sang d’Argent” and “Soleil de Nuit” - two dreams for 1001 nights

The two-tone-scheme of the Centenary Villa d’Este cars were at the origin of the “Sang
d’Argent”, a one-off Veyron version built exclusively for the Middle East. But the country coded
coloured parts of the car have now been changed to a subtle silver metallic which discreetly flows
into the lines of the polished aluminium parts – doors and front wings – thus enhancing the
“silver theme” of this car; yet another unique Bugatti creation celebrating the 100th anniversary
of the brand. The “Sang d’Argent” has the Grand Sport rims, they complete together with the air
intakes on the roof the overall silver appearance.

Through the windows shines a differentiating Havanna interior with quilting pattern on seats
and saddle and other very personalized items emphasizing the unique features of this very special
Bugatti.

The “Soleil de Nuit” – Sun of the Night – is another stunning example of how a modern
interpretation of Bugatti’s core values “Art, Forme, Technique”: A very unusual colour/material
split characterizes the “Soleil de Nuit”, the second Middle East one-off model created for the
Dubai Motor Show. The horizontal split in the lower part of the car – a synthesis of polished
Aluminium, painted Black Blue Metallic enriched by mirror shine meshes – softens the lines of
this Grand Sport and gives the body a new touch of sportiness. Blue Metallic in the upper body
parts and also in the inner side of the (”Sang Noir”) rims, the outer side of which are in diamond
cut, underline the exquisite appearance of this dramatic looking car. A strong burnt orange
interior crowns the attractiveness of this impressive “Soleil de Nuit”.

The cars will be available for delivery in the first quarter of 2010. Their prices range from 1.65
Mio Euro for the five car series of the “Nocturne” to 1.45 Mio Euro for the “Sang d’Argent” and
1.55 Mio for the “Soleil de Nuit”, the Veyron and Grand Sport one-off models.

All these models are a visible proof of how creativeness and inspiration can be successfully driven
to new limits. Bugatti’s constant strive for new technology, more power with less weight, more
innovative design aiming for improved speed, easier handling and more inspiring elegance has
become legendary. Bugatti’s sophisticated individualization and personalization program has
opened new opportunities for the creative and discerning customers found in the Middle East.
New materials have widened the range of personalized options and have led to combinations and
applications of different varieties of high tech elements never seen before. Thus Bugatti chose
the Dubai Motor Show to present these new combinations the first and only time to a broader
public.

100 years later the Bugatti brand is well established again

Honouring the foundation of the company in 1909 Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S opened the
anniversary with a one-off version of the Veyron, the “Bleu Centenaire”, at the Geneva Motor
Show in March. At the Villa d’Este weekend at the end of April the company paid tribute to
Bugatti’s racing history – which was to a great extend responsible for the worldwide reputation
of the brand – with four very special Grand Sports, accompanied by their respective Type 35
predecessors, all featuring the traditional racing colours representing France, Italy, England and
Germany, namely blue, red, green and white. Bugatti was then one of the honoured marques at
the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California in August and highlighted the event with
the presentation of the “Sang Bleu”, a one off Grand Sport in a breathtaking and unique carbon
– aluminium combination. The “100th Anniversary Weekend” in Molsheim in September was
the platform for a glimpse into the future which might look like the Bugatti 16 C Galibier
concept – intended to be the most exclusive, elegant and powerful four door automobile in the
world.

The presentation of these very special cars at the Dubai Motor Show is the final highlight, with
which Bugatti ends its Centenary celebrations. We are honoured to complete our 100 Years at
this prestigious Motor Show of a very important market for Bugatti.

Bugatti 16C Galibier reportedly gets the $1.5 million go-ahead

Arquivado em Bugatti, Concept Cars, Others por admin em 01-10-2009

Few have seen it – even standing still – but a report from the UK’s Auto Express is already suggesting that the Bugatti 16C Galibier concept, shown to a select few at the company’s factory in Molsheim, is set to receive the green light for production.

The concept for succeeding the two-door, mid-engine Veyron offers a more conventional four-door, front-engine bodystyle with bragging rights that pale only in comparison to its record-breaking forbearer: the 8.0-liter quad-turbo W16 engine would carry over, albeit detuned from its 1000+ hp output in the Veyron to “only” 800, while sources suggest that the Veyron’s purpose-built dual-clutch transmission would be replaced with a more conventional torque-converter eight-speed automatic. With less power and a larger shape, the Galibier is tipped to reach a 220 mph top speed – a good thirty less than the Veyron’s top end, but still miles ahead of even the fastest production sedans.

Rumor has it that the Bugatti could share the platform from the new Bentley Mulsanne. And while earlier reports indicated that Bugatti would be trying out a number of different concepts before selecting one for production, if this latest report is accurate, the Galibier could hit the market by 2013 with a £900,000 price tag – about $1.5 million, the same price as that Veyron speeding off into the setting sun.

Monterey 2009: Medium rare or rare? Custom coachwork Bugatti Type 57s

Arquivado em Bugatti por admin em 19-08-2009

At the 59th Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, Bugatti was allotted two classes: 100 Years of Style and Speed, and a second class devoted solely to the Type 57. Check that, a second class devoted to Type 57 models with special coachwork. As if any Bugatti Type 57 wasn’t special enough, back in the day, customers could order an off-the-rack Type 57, or they could opt for a custom coachwork job arranged directly through Bugatti. They offered six different body styles: The Stelvio, Aravis, Galibier, Ventoux, Atalante and Atlantic.

Those bodies rode on standard chassis or lowered ones labeled with an “S.” Customers also had the choice of either the standard naturally aspirated 8-cylinder engine or a supercharged version putting out 210 hp. Supercharged, lowered vehicles were dubbed the 57SC and those were and are the most desirable setup no matter what coachwork it wears. The four 57SC Atlantics built demand the most money, though.

Think of it like the current situation with the Veyron. You can order a “regular” Veyron 16.4, or you could get one of approximately one dozen special editions instead. After all, wouldn’t you want to have a one-of-ten or one-of-one edition instead of a lousy one-of-fifty model? The difference in the Type 57 days was that the bodies completely changed from model to model, whereas the special editions today tend to revolve around paint schemes. It’s a lot more like taking an Enzo to Pininfarina and turning it into a Ferrari P4/5, or taking a ZR1 Corvette to Bertone and driving off in a Mantide.

At Pebble, we were treated to a selection of nine Type 57 Bugattis ranging in year from 1935-1939. There was a bare chassis, a Bertelli of Feltham Cabriolet, Two-Light Ventoux Coupe (l), Graber Cabriolet, Paul Nee Pillarless Coupe, 57SC Atalante Coupe, Albert D’Ieteren Cabriolet, 57C Aravis, and a 57C Letourneur et Marchand Cabriolet (r). That Atalante took a well-deserved trophy for best in class. Be sure to check out our gallery to see these amazing Bugattis for yourself.

Bugatti Grand Sport Sang Bleu the last special edition Veyron?

Arquivado em Bugatti por admin em 18-08-2009

That’s it, ladies and gents. The seemingly endless train of special edition Bugatti Veyrons has ended. Allegedly. After taking the wraps off the Sang Noir, Pur Sang, Fbg by Hermes, Grand Sport, Bleu Centenaire and the quartet of individual Centenaire tribute editions, to say nothing of the individual specials in between, Auto Motor und Sport says that the Sang Bleu edition of the Grand Sport which Bugatti unveiled at this past weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance will be the last special edition Veyron that Molsheim will build. With a reported 250 out of the 300 Veyrons initially earmarked for production now built and sold, Bugatti’s moving on to its next project, tentatively dubbed Bordeaux. At which point the whole shpeil will presumably start all over again.

Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport “Sang Bleu” unveiled in Monterey

How many special edition Bugatti Veyrons are there? There’s the Pur Sang, the Bleu Centenaire, the Sang Noir and Fbg by Hermes, not to mention the countless examples that have either been painted gold or chrome by bored sheiks who’ve spent too much time in the sun. The targa-fied Veyron, otherwise known as the Grand Sport, has been around a lot less time than its closed roof counterpart, but it’s about time the open roof Bug got a special edition of its own. Enter the Grand Sport “Sang Bleu” that’s being unveiled by Bugatti this weekend in Monterey.

The “Sang Bleu” is set off by its unique two-tone color combination that isn’t the result of opening a couple new cans of paint back at the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, France, but rather combining two materials: carbon fiber and aluminum. The shiny parts are, of course, the al-yoo-mini-um of which we spoke, but the royal blue you see is a specially tinted carbon fiber. The only other differences between the “Sang Bleu” and a normal Grand Sport are that the rear airscoops are also body color, and the wheels are a unique design with a Midnight Blue and Diamond Cut finish.

Only 20 standard Grand Sports have been ordered and far less actually delivered, so the “Sang Bleu” stands as the rarest Veyron of them all right now. There’s only one and Bugatti doesn’t mention anything about it going into limited production, but considering the brand’s penchant for making special editions, we expect the “Sang Bleu” will be available for anyone with anyone with a couple million bucks to trade.

Get your grubby hands on a Bugatti Veyron for just $25k

Arquivado em Bugatti, Super Cars por admin em 10-06-2009

Not all of us have over a million to spend on a new car, otherwise we’d all be driving Bugatti Veyrons, right? Or at least most of us would. So how about $25,000 – that’s a bit closer, right? Well now you can get your hands on a Veyron for just that amount. Unfortunately the twenty-five grand will only get you one day behind the wheel of the super-fast, super-expensive supercar.

Holders Vehicle Contracts, an exotic rental company in England, has got a Veyron on its hands that it’s willing to rent out to anyone who can shell out the £16,000 (about $25k). Oh, and did we mention would-be renters will need to put down a $160,000 deposit? That’s a little bit steeper than the typical contract down at the your local Hertz, but then that Chevrolet Impala or Ford Mustang convertible isn’t going to get you up to 250 miles per hour, now is it?

How much is that Veyron in the Window? Unique Pegaso edition Bugatti for sale

Arquivado em Bugatti, Others, Super Cars por admin em 24-04-2009

It’s hard to believe that Bugatti is still pumping out more special editions of its already special Veyron when owners of some of the most exclusive versions to date have been going up for sale on what seems like a daily basis. A couple of weeks ago, we reported on one of the five Pur Sang editions being put up for sale in Abu Dhabi, and our man Jared Paul Stern over at sister-site Luxist found another one a few days later. But as exclusive as the Pur Sang edition was, an even more exclusive Veyron has now popped up on the market on a Polish website.

The Pegaso edition was a one-off built for one fortunate Eastern European customer living in Dubai (where else) at the exclusive Burj al Arab complex. It was painted a special pearl white and light red metallic with a custom interior bearing the Pegaso badge in tribute to the 1950’s-era Spanish coachbuilder. We guess times are tight for everyone if the owner is motivated to sell, but then again, at €1.85 ($2.45M USD), the offering party is asking for a considerable premium over the standard million-€uro price of a new model for this barber pole Bug. Hat tip to everyone!

Super-rare Supercar: Bugatti Veyron Pur Sang for sale in Abu Dhabi

Arquivado em Bugatti, Super Cars por admin em 15-04-2009

When Bugatti rolled out the limited-edition Pur Sang edition of its Veyron at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, European customers snapped up all five before any American buyers could get their checkbooks out. As a result, Bugatti had to make the Sang Noir the following year and offer U.S. customers first crack at the limited run of fifteen. But for those who really wanted the original polished-aluminum and bare-carbon-fiber edition that kicked off the raft of special-edition Veyrons that followed, they may get that chance as one appears to have popped up for sale.

A premium car dealership in Abu Dhabi has posted an example of the Pur Sang for sale on its website. In all likelihood, this is the same example that was spotted on video a year ago and which showed up for the Top Gear photo shoot in good company a few months later. No word on price, or even confirmation that this is, indeed, a Pur Sang, but the website does allow you to place the order immediately. And if that doesn’t tickle your fancy, they’ve got a Mansory Vincero up for grabs, too. Follow the link to check it out.
