Production Aston Martin V12 Zagato headed for Kuwait reveal

Filed under Aston Martin, Coupes, luxury, Others 30-01-2012

A howling red prototype of the Aston Martin’s V12 Zagato made the international rounds last year, and now the first production example is headed for a Middle East reveal at the Kuwait Concours d’ Elegance (running February 15-18). Only 150 of the super-exclusive Astons will be made for worldwide consumption.

Aston Martin hasn’t released any new photos so we don’t know how the 510-horsepower, £330,000 (that’s $550,000 U.S., before taxes), aluminum-and-carbon-bodied coupe will differ from its progenitor. If the model on display at the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show is an indicator, though, future owners have much to look forward to.

We’ll know more in a few weeks, so until then, feast your eyes on the attached photo galleries and read the press release after the jump. Read More »

Romeo Ferraris and Autodelta team up for a supercharged goodbye to the Alfa Romeo Brera

Filed under Aston Martin, Coupes, Others 15-12-2011

We’ve seen Romeo Ferraris tune all manner of vehicles, but oddly none from the automaker with which it shares the first part of its name. That’s all changing, but not with a current Alfa Romeo model. For their latest project, RF has turned its attention to the recently discontinued Alfa Romeo Brera.

HBH reveals final design for mid-engined Aston Martin Bulldog GT

Filed under Aston Martin, Concept Cars, Coupes, Others 09-11-2011

Aston Martins often prove capable of tangling with the likes of Ferraris and Lamborghinis. But one thing that sets them apart is that, while their Italian counterparts often place their engines amidship, Astons are always front-engined. Right?

Aston Martin can’t build Cygnet fast enough to keep up with demand

Filed under Aston Martin, hatchback, luxury, Others 22-09-2011

Call it practical, call it luxurious, or call it a thinly veiled dilution of a legendary marque. –Whatever you want to call the Aston Martin Cygnet, at the end of the day, there are apparently a sizable number of customers lining up to drop the approximate equivalent of $50,000 on the tarted-up Toyota iQ. So many, in fact, that Autocar has learned that Aston can hardly keep its supply up with the demand.

Official: Aston Martin putting V12 Zagato into limited production with £330,000 price tag

Filed under Aston Martin, Coupes 08-07-2011

It’s official, ladies and gents: the Aston Martin V12 Zagato is entering production. Still, we wouldn’t expect to see one down at the local dealership anytime soon. That’s because, as expected, only 150 examples will be made, each fetching a whopping £330,000. That’s before taxes, and by current conversion rates, it comes in around $525,000.

To put that into perspective, consider the following: over in the UK, Lamborghini’s flagship Murcielago LP670-4 SV cost about £220k (roughly $350k), the new Aventador that succeeds it, slightly less. The Ferrari 599 GTO – its current top-of-the-line model – goes for £305,000 (around $490k).

Report: Aston Martin to offer 150 examples of the V12 Zagato at £330,000 apiece

Filed under Aston Martin, Coupes 04-07-2011

Few collaborations have set the presses and Intertubes alight quite like the Aston Martin V12 Zagato. Rekindling a five-decade-old partnership, the British purveyor of luxury GTs and the Italian design house unveiled their latest collaboration on the shores of Lake Como to rave reviews. And keen to show it’s not just a pretty face, Aston Martin then took the beauty-and-the-beast machine to the Nürburgring to race.

Just the other day, we brought you news of Aston’s apparently inadvertent (or decidedly low-key) confirmation that the V12 Zagato would reach the market, however limited in production. Now, reports indicate just how few will be built – and how expensive they’ll be.

Funding secured for next generation of Aston Martins to launch by 2016

Filed under Aston Martin, Others 04-07-2011

Few platforms have served as well as Aston Martin’s VH architecture. The flexible platform has underpinned everything the automaker has produced (save the bespoke One-77) since 2003, but it’s growing a little long in the tooth. Little wonder, then, that Aston is pursuing a new platform, and the company has now confirmed it has obtained the funding to get there.

The financial backing comes from a bond issue, bringing in £304 million ($487 million) from investors. With the capital in place, sources anticipate Aston will begin working on its next generation of vehicles in 2012, with the first of the new models to debut in 2015 or 2016.
